"I've just started putting together my family tree. I am the son of Beryl Collard daughter of Douglas Collard (b 1859) at Stodmarsh.
My family tree information differs from yours (which doesn't mean mine is correct!) My grandfather Douglas married a Gertrude Marion (B1870).
His brother Ernest (b 1856) married Caroline Argles (b 1860) in 1879 and had a son Douglas (b 1880) He Married Olga Powys-Lybbe. It looks as if your tree has shown Douglas (B1859) as the husband of Olga rather than uncle-in law. My grandfather was the farmer and his nephew (also Douglas) was the Timber merchant. I hope that fits in. If I have interpreted your tree incorrectly (not difficult as I'm easily confused - old timer's disease) perhaps you could correct me."
This then led to some proper information about the Collards.

In an eMail, dated April 21, 2006, Bill Lonnen says:
I think it was Tim who lost a leg when his father swung into the drive of Swarling Manor and Tim was thrown from the horse drawn trap. Arthur was so drunk (as usual) that he hadn't noticed Tim had fallen from the trap. By the time Tim was discovered his leg was so badly injured it had to be amputated. A chap who worked for him told us that Tim made out that he'd lost the leg in the war!
