General Notes: In an email from Judy Osman, in California, in March 2004, she stated:
Sorry to disappoint - I'm not actually a Chesterman descendant. However, Humphrey was engaged to my mother's younger sister, Yvonne. Humphrey wrote two books before he was killed - "Bolden" and "Penny World". Penny World was published just before my parents were married in Dublin in February 1939. I have a copy of Penny World in which Humphrey has written:
"Penny World has appeared just in time for your wedding, Ailsa and Desmond; so here is a copy to help prop up the worthier books in your shelf."
signed "Humphrey - 11 February, 1939"
He gave this book to my parents on the occasion of their marriage. Humphrey dedicated the book "to Yvonne Collins". [my Mother's younger Sister]
Very sadly, a month after my parents were married, Yvonne died at the age of 19, in Grenoble, France of a ruptured appendix. She had been attending university in Grenoble at the time. My mother spoke so warmly of Humphrey on many occasions. As you know, he was shot down in the war. I am not certain that it was actually as early as 1939, because I know he spent some time in Canada - at Cold Lake, Alberta, training young recruits to fly, before returning to the field of operations in Europe.
