John Whaley WATSON, Bombay Staff Corps [1144] [MRIN: 810], son of Colonel John Willis WATSON, Bombay Artillery [934] and Emma ARMITAGE [1107], in 1870 in Honiton Devon England. John was born on 25 Dec 1837 in India, was baptised on 22 Apr 1838 in Poona Mahatra Indiaresh India, died on 24 Mar 1889 in Rajkot Gujerat India at age 51, and was buried in Rajkot Gujerat India.

   64 F    ii. Alice Evelyn WATSON [1264] died in 1959.

   65 F    iii. Eleanor Frances WATSON [1256] was born on 19 Oct 1872 in Gujerat [State] India and was baptised on 17 Nov 1872 in Jeytpore India.

Eleanor married Richard Prentice HARVEY [5113] [MRIN: 2911]. Richard died on 09 May 1915.

+ 66 M    iv. John William WATSON [1257] was born on 08 Nov 1874 in India, was baptised on 01 Jan 1875 in Gujerat [State] India, and died on 30 May 1962 in Canterbury Kent England at age 87.

   67 F    v. Violet Mary WATSON [1258] was born on 12 Aug 1876 in India, was baptised on 08 Sep 1876 in Madhya Pradesh [State] India, and died on 08 Sep 1876 in Dawlish Devon England [fall of cliff].

   68 F    vi. Margaret Elizabeth Christian WATSON [1259] was born on 10 May 1878 in India.

   69 M    vii. Francis Shouldham WATSON [1260] was born in 1880 and died on 02 May 1918 in France [died of wounds] at age 38.

   70 M    viii. George Edmund Borlase WATSON [1261] was born on 12 Jul 1885 in India, was baptised on 08 Sep 1885 in Maharashtra India, and died on 29 Aug 1918 in France [killed in action] at age 33.

49. Edmund Harry WATTS [86336] was born on 10 Jan 1849 in Marylebone Middlesex England, was baptised on 16 Mar 1849 in St John's Wood London England, and died circa 1880 at age 31.

General Notes: In his Watts Family Records, Caspar Graham states:
Edmund went to Cheltenham College from August 1861 to April 1869. While there he met and became friends with The Peel brothers.
On leaving the school he applied, and passed with flying colours, the examination for the Straights Settlements Cadet Service. His fellow cadet was Frank Swettenham, first Resident General of the Malay States, and they were posted to Singapore, Edmund becoming Acting Assistant Colonial Secretary. Swettenham was to write of Edmund, "a brilliant and accomplished person with whom I was proud to be linked as a Far Eastern Cadet." Edmund later became the Collector of Land Revenue in Malacca. It seems there may have been some financial impropriety for which he resigned his post (Singapore or Malacca?) in 1875.
He married Annina Elizabeth, the sister of the Peel brothers, probably in 1875, possibly overseas. They were to have two children before he died around 1879.
She remarried.

Edmund married Annina Elizabeth PEEL [86965] [MRIN: 28933] circa 1875. Annina was born on 11 Feb 1849 in Huish Wiltshire England and was baptised on 11 Feb 1849.

50. George Kempthorne WATTS [86337] was born on 13 Feb 1852 in Marylebone Middlesex England and died on 22 Jan 1919 in Dehradun Uttarakand India at age 66.

George married Ethel Grace BELL [86968] [MRIN: 28934] on 24 Mar 1884 in St John's Church Amraoti Maharashtra India. Ethel was born on 11 Dec 1859 and was baptised on 27 Jan 1860 in East Berar Tamil Nadu India.
