A sunstroke or actinic erythema is a burn caused by an exposure of the skin to the radiation of the sun. One distinguishes it from the solar allergy or lucite, and photosensitization.

The sunstroke arises in various stages of burn, the erythema i.e. the exposed skin is red. The individual flaring also notes an increase in heat and sensitivity of the irradiated cutaneous territory. In more intense stages of solar exposure, the symptoms are connected with those of the burns with the appearance of painful phlyctenes, ulceration of the skin, etc

An exposure repeated to the sun with a repetition of the sunstrokes increases the risk of development of cutaneous tumours, and especially of the melanomist.

There is a New England in Jamaica, in the parish of St. Ann; it is a few miles South of St. Ann's Bay. However, I have yet to see the name listed as a settlement or plantation in any sources; also, a journey through the mountains for burial the next day seems highly unlikely if not improbable.
Alternatively, New England may simply be the name given to Foster's dwelling house on the Bogue estate \endash many examples can be cited where a house and an associated plantation had a different name, usually when new homes were built on an estate.
James Robertson's map of 1804 does show a separate house, labelled Foster's, to the south east of Bogue itself.
