Henton Macaulay DAVEY [1634] (George5, Thomas2, Joseph1) was born on 28 Mar 1851 in Graig Fawr, Briton Ferry, Neath Glamorgan Wales, was baptised on 28 Mar 1851 in Briton Ferry Neath Glamorgan Wales, died on 06 Jul 1935 in Dunedin Otago New Zealand at age 84, and was buried on 09 Jul 1935 in Dunedin Northern Cemetery Dunedin Otago New Zealand.

Godson of Lord Macaulay, poet & essayist. Came out to NZ with letter of introduction to William BISHOP of Wellington, also a ship owner, but settled in Dunedin as an architect. Was an architect of many Dunedin buildings. He designed the railway from Dunedin to Central Otago.

Married (1) Mary Ann NASH in 1873 in Cardiff, Wales. At time of marriage, lived at 17 Partridge Road, Roath, Cardiff. Came out to Dunedin, NZ on the 'Leicester' in 1877.
Married (2) Elizabeth COLLISON IN 1899; (3) Maud BROWN in 1911.

Brought up as an engineer and architect at the Marquis of Bute's Works,Cardiff, Mr DAVEY came to N.Z. in 1877 in the ship "Leicester". After 2 years' experience in Dunedin, he embarked in his present business. The principal part of Mr DAVEY's business is the taking out of patents, and he has clients in all parts of the colony. He is also engaged in designing buildings and machinery, especially gold mining machinery in connection with the Otago goldfields. "

Died after being accidentally knocked down by a motor car in George St,Dunedin on 5 July 1935.

Buried in Dunedin Northern Cemetery Section 5 (Block 92, Plot 27) with his wife, Mary Ann (white marble stone with top broken off, concrete surround, broken brick cover)

When he returned he farmed south of Auckland.

In 1919 he married Agnes (Nessie) THANE - no children.

Died in Opotiki in 1964 - Will sighted 24 May 2001.

Buried in plot 553 Opotiki Cemetery:
"Rg No. 14234 In Loving Memory of L/cpl Alan George DAVEY, beloved husband of Agnes Marion; d. 31 August 1964, aged 87 years."


His wife was buried in plot 554 Opotiki Cemetery:
"In loving memory of Agnes Marion, beloved wife of Alan DAVEY; d. 5February 1955, aged 71
years."

He drank, and she didn't like NZ, so left him and went back to England.

Died in 1940 in Wellington.

Ivor married Ruth Claire CLAIGUE [2883] [MRIN: 1088], daughter of Unknown and Unknown. Ruth was born in Isle of Man England and died in England.

Henton next married Elizabeth Ann COLLISON [11310] [MRIN: 5041] in 1899 in St Paul's Cathedral Dunedin Otago New Zealand. Elizabeth was born on 23 Jun 1851 in Derby Derbyshire England and died on 02 Aug 1911 in Dunedin Otago New Zealand at age 60.
