Shepherd Thomas DANIELL married ? . His wife was not with the family or had died by the 1881 Census. IGI no help with marriage.

Laura married John Birt ULPH [56] [MRIN: 62], son of John Birt ULPH [2358] and Mary Louisa BISHOP [2114], 28 Jun 1856 in Lion Walk Chapel Colchester Essex England. John was born 05 Nov 1831 in St Ives Huntingdonshire England, died 07 Apr 1906 in Cromwell House Harrow Middlesex England at age 74, and was buried 11 Apr 1906 in Independant Cemetery St Ives Cambridgeshire England.

General Notes: The 1841 & 1851 Census show John Birt Jnr. living with his Parents.
The 1861 Census however shows him living at Crown Street, with his Wife Laura and his Children, Mary & Harold. He is shown to be a Partner in an Ironmongery Business. ...
The 1871 Census shows John and Laura, with Mary, Harold, William, Edgar, Edward Bernard, Arnold Birt and Laura Henrietta living at 6 Cromwell Terr He now has 2 Female Servants; and is still shown as being a Junior Partner in an Ironmongerers. ...
The 1881 Census shows John Birt Jnr. and new Wife, Charlotte, married in 1876 living at 3 Cromwell Terrace with Mary Louisa, William David, Edgar Bishop, Laura Henrietta, Margaret Kate, Jessie (children) and with three Servants. He is shown as being an Ironmonger, employing 5 men and 3 youths. His sons William and Edgar are shown as Assistants to their Father. ... H.U.Smith. December 1987.
The 1891 Census shows John B Ulph, Ironmonger & Valuer, living with Charlotte, his Wife; and Children Mary L, aged 33, Laura H, aged 21 and Jessie, aged 13.
In the Will of his Mother, Mary Louisa Ulph, John was named as Executor. He was also left by Mary Two cottages in Hemingford Grey and the Premises in Cromwell Terrace, St. Ives, subject to a Mortgage? of £600 thereon. John was also left the residue of a Trust of £3600, left by his Grand- father, William Bishop. During her lifetime, his Mother, Mary was Trustee. She left £3000 to other of her children, with the remainder left to John as stated above. See Mary's Will in the File H:ulph.wls (accessed through 'Spellbinder') John's father, in his Will, left him the Premises and Business in Crown St., St. Ives. His Father's Will also mentions an agreement made between them. This agreement appears to relate to the probable sale to John of the Business, or at least of a Share in it. John's Will, dated 4/2/1902 indicates that he was a "Metal Trades Valuer". John took as Junior Partner Mr. F.T.Ruston in 1885 when he considered his Son Arnold, who was 18 at the time, too young to be a Junior Partner. (See copy of Newspaper Article received from Colin Ulph) John, along with his Sister Emma (Smith) was named as an Executor of the Will of his Sister Matilda. He, along with Emma, received a half share of Matilda's Estate after
a number of specific bequests had been given. ...

General Notes: In a File received in July 2006, Sylvia [Taylor] Robinson stated:

Martha Alice Ellen DANIELL married Thomas Birt ULPH in Dec. 1869 in St George's, Rode, Somerset, Eng. 1 daughter.

1881 Census, Martha ULPH is widowed aged 37, Head, living in Oil Mill Rd, Lexden, Essex. Gives a daughter, Edith, aged 10.
Also living with her is her sister, Anna, and brother, Samuel.

Their daughter, Edith Mabel ULPH was born on 1-4-1871 in Dunedin, Otago, NZ. Thomas died 5-11-1871, so Martha must have returned to England. Edith also died in England in 1926 in Kensington.

Martha married Thomas Birt ULPH [10] [MRIN: 13], son of Thomas Birt ULPH [7] and Elizabeth BISHOP [2236], 02 Dec 1869 in St George's Hanover Square London England. Thomas was born 29 Jun 1834 in St Ives Huntingdonshire England, died 05 Nov 1871 in Dunedin Otago New Zealand at age 37, and was buried 07 Nov 1871 in Dunedin Southern Cemetery Dunedin Otago New Zealand.

Thomas Birt ULPH married Martha Ellen Alice DANIELL in December 1869 at St George's, Rode, Somerset, England.

They emigrated to NZ, and had a daughter, Edith, in April 1871.

Thomas died 5 November 1871 in Dunedin, Otago, NZ. (Death Fiche) He was aged 37.

He was buried in Dunedin Southern Cemetery on 7 November, aged 37, of Dundas St, Dunedin. Native of St Ives. Blk 3P, Plot 0078.

Will for Thomas Birt ULPH filed 17 December 1872 in Dunedin Ct - Iron Merchant of Dunedin.
