John Blyth was of an old Essex family who owned large estates and three houses or Halls as they were called in Essex, England - namely Kirkby cum Slocum, Sneating Hall and Beaumont Hall. The first two Halls are in ruins now but Beaumont Hall is standing, but it has passed through many hands.

John in his early life was in the British Navy - there is an old mahogany midshipman's chest with his initials J.B. in brass on the cover.

In later life he went to India where he worked with the East India Company.
He married and had a large family.

John married Sophia [11861] [MRIN: 5204] about 1816 in Cawnpore Uttar Pradesh India.

+ 2 M    i. William Edward BLYTHE [11857] was born about 1818 in Calcutta Bengal India, died 31 Aug 1873 in Upper Norwood London England about age 55, and was buried 02 Sep 1873 in Upper Norwood London England.

Andrew married Agnes WILLIAMS [11869] [MRIN: 5205] 11 Apr 1840 in Fort William Calcutta Bengal India.

   5 M    iv. John BLYTHE [11864] was born about 1825.

   6 M    v. George Henry BLYTHE [11865] was born in 1829 in Cawnpore Uttar Pradesh India.

George married Amelia Dorothy Martin CHAMBERLAIN [11870] [MRIN: 5206], daughter of Henry de Tankerville CHAMBERLAIN [11859] and Unknown, 17 Feb 1848 in Jullunder West Bengal India. Amelia was born about 1824.
